Gawn Girvin is born

The Name

Where did I get the name?  Gawn Girvin comes from researches in my Family History. Gawn was my grandmother’s baby twin brother and although he died as a tiny baby and I never knew him of course, my grandmother spoke of him to me and I just fell in love with the name. When I decided to write a crime novel I wanted an unusual name for my main character and Gawn seemed to fit the bill. Using what is originally a male name for a female character added another level of ambiguity about this cold, distant, hurting character who is career-driven yet incredibly vulnerable and searching for meaning in life and someone to love and who loves her and can put up with her scars both physical and psychological.

I hope if you’ve read The Perfume Killer, you’ll already know how to pronounce her name. As she tells the man in the hotel bar, her name is  -

Gawn to rhyme with Dan not Gawn to rhyme with yawn.

Bear it in mind if you ever meet her!

Murder on the Table

A sudden death turns a charity bash into chaos.

“This series has gripped and entertained from the start, but with each book the plotting just gets better and better, as does Hagan's development of Gawn's driven, committed, intensely private persona. Many scenes and set pieces in this novel are deserving of high praise, but the catastrophic episode at the dinner in the classy hotel was absolutely masterly. Very highly recommended.”  CB, U
